Project Overview
The Auto-Jack is an automated vehicle lifting
system consisting of a steel ladder/scissor
frame with a pneumatic/hydraulic power-train
and dual safety system. It is designed to safely
lift and secure the vehicle without having the
user get underneath the vehicle to install
conventional jack stands.

-
Anticipated Technical Merits
The primary motivation behind this project
is the need to improve safety in an automotive
environment. The conventional method for
lifting cars is not only time consuming but can
be unsafe in many circumstances. A device that can quickly lift and secure the rear/front end(s) of a vehicle without requiring the user to get under the chassis of the vehicle will improve overall safety.

-
Requirement
The jack frame will have a maximum compressive strength of 5000-lbs to ensure it will safely lift the rear/front end(s) of the vehicle without failure. The success of this project can be measured/determined by testing to see if the auto-jack effectively and safely lifts the vehicle.
-
Optimization Opportunity
Try to minimize the weight of the frame for ease of operation.

-
Known Challenges
At this point, the known challenges that we face consist of budgeting and sourcing materials. In addition, we face the problem of keeping our device small enough for a single user to operate and handle with ease.

Industry Help
Materials (Square stock, round stock), as well as assistance in gathering other materials for frame and power-train.
